SOUTH BEND - Bernice H. Nicks, 89, of Vine Street, died at 10:10 p.m. Friday in Ironwood Health Care Center. Mrs. Nicks was born Nov. 8, 1904, in Richland County, Wis.

On July 11, 1922, in Rockford, Ill., she married Leslie K. Nicks. He died in 1971. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Lesher of Edwardsburg; three sons, Gerald and Allen, both of South Bend, and Donald of Madison, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Goldie Kingerey of Deer Park, Texas; and a brother, Kenneth Hendricks of Orfordville, Wis.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Rosary Society of the church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hanley & Sons Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, where the rosary will be said at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
