Barbara L. Nicholas, 74, of Marco Island, Fla., died on Friday, March 12. She was a native of South Bend, Ind. Barbara lived on Marco Island since 1977 with her husband Nick, who died on Feb. 4, 2000. Prior to moving to Marco Island, she served as an administrative assistant to Coach Ara Parseghian at the University of Notre Dame. Prior to that, she was a secretary at the Studebaker Corporation and Mercedes Benz. Barbara was an avid bridge player with many friends in South Bend and on Marco Island. Mrs. Nicholas is survived by her two daughters, Linda N. Hamilton of Naples, Fla., and Nancy (Michael) Esposito of River Forest, Ill. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kara (Alex) Macsuga of Loxahatchee, Fla., Nicholas (Kelley) Hamilton of Nashville, Tenn., Michelle Esposito, a senior at the University of Illinois, Mia Esposito, a sophomore, USN ROTC Vanderbilt University, and Nicholas Esposito of River Forest, Ill.; and great- grandchildren, Audrey Linn Macsuga and Stacey Chaffee.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her name to Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation, P.O. Box 7878, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, Naples, is handling arrangements.
