Mrs. Nellie Newsome, 82, dear mother,
grandmother, sister and aunt, who resided on Ridgedale Street,
South Bend, Ind., entered into eternal rest at 7 a.m., on
Saturday, June 2, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation
Center, following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 16,
1919, to the late Eva Graves in Osceola, Ark.
Coming from Arkansas she married Charles
Newsome, who preceded her in death in 1960. Mrs. Newsome was a
housewife and resident of South Bend for over 40 years. She was a
devoted Christian, serving as a church mother and a member of the
Mother's Board at Emanuel Church of Deliverance. Mother Newsome
is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Quinton) Newsome-Patton
and Marcella D. Newsome, both of South Bend; a brother, John
(Viola) Graves of South Bend; four grandchildren, Tommy Newsome,
Anastazia Newsome, Ben Swanson and Mykell Patton; and by
other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her
mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother,
Tommy Graves.
Funeral services for Mrs. Newsome will be
held at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 8, in Emanuel Church of
Deliverance, 415 W. LaSalle, with Pastor Shirley Gaston
officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.
