Mrs. Sylvia Eberhart Newman, aged 86, of Santa Barbara, Calif., formerly of Mishawaka and Goshen, Ind., died last Thursday in Santa Barbara.

She was born in Mishawaka Dec. 15, 1863, and lived in Indiana until 1935 when she moved to California. She resided in Goshen before living in Mishawaka from 1910 until 1935.

Surviving are a son, Neal E., of Santa Barbara; a daughter, Mrs. I. M. Treadwell, of Mill Valley, Calif., eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Private funeral services were conducted in Santa Barbara. The body is scheduled for interment in Goshen.
