SOUTH BEND - James Paul Newman Jr., infant son of Melissa J. Nugent of Hartzer Street and James Paul Newman of South Bend, was dead at birth at 7:29 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Hospital. Also surviving are a brother, Zachary Nugent, at home; maternal grandparents, Sharol K. and Michael J. Nugent Sr. of South Bend; paternal grandparents, Sandra Newman and Richard Newman, both of South Bend; maternal great-grandmother, Doris Nugent of South Bend; and maternal great-grandfather, Ira Higgins of South Bend.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where burial will follow. Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., is in charge of arrangements.
