Charles W. (Bill)
Newcomer, 67, of 1102 Kinyon, died at 10:46am Tuesday in Memorial
Hospital after an extended illness. He was retired from
Bendix Corp. after 31 years of service.
He was born June
27, 1914, in North Liberty, and lived in the South Bend area all
his life. On December 3, 1960, in South Bend, he married
Gladys Field, who survives along with a son, Gary Newcomer of Mishawaka;
a step-son, Norman Jannasch of South Bend; three grandchildren; a
great grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Riddle of Mishawaka,
Mrs Charles Nader of Milwaukee WI and Mrs. Robert Hudson of
Elkhart; and four brothers, Dean of South Bend, Robert of
Mishawaka, Vern of Plattsburgh NY and Paul of Riverside CA.
Services will be
held at 11am Friday in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S
Ironwood Drive, with Rev. Douglas Thieden, associate pastor of Calvary
Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Thursday in the funeral
home. He was a member of Bendix Local 6. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund.
