Dec. 24, 1914 - May 13, 2010SOUTH BEND - Esther Caroline Nethers, 95, residing in South Bend, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's in South Bend. She was born in Columbus, OH, the daughter of Carl William and Meta Catherine (Luft) Huber. Her parents and brother, Norman Huber, preceded her in death. On August 7, 1971, in Columbus, OH, she married J. Ross Nethers, who preceded her in death on January 24, 1999. Surviving Esther are three stepchildren, Ross C. (Margaret) Nethers of Maywood, IL, Shirley L. Sellers of Winter Park, FL, and Richard A. (Jane) Nethers of Los Alamitos, CA; five step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Sellers, Laura Sellers-Justice, Alison Sellers-Yarborough, Matthew Nethers and Kristine Nethers; and five step-great-grandchildren. Esther was employed by the Nationwide Insurance Companies in the home office in Columbus, OH, as an executive secretary. She was a member of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church. Funeral services for Esther will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James B. Miller officiating. Friends may visit with the family one half-hour prior to the services in church. Graveside services and burial will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, May 27, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, 115 S. Frances Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617; or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60707.
