Harold ''Bud'' Nelund, 71, of
Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a courageous battle with
cancer.
He was born on Nov. 27, 1927, to Oscar and
Goldia Nelund. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and
Southwestern Michigan College.
On April 12, 1947, he married Carmen (Antonelli)
Nelund of Elkhart, Ind. Bud is survived by his wife of 51 years,
Carmen; and his children, Lynn Goddard of New Orleans,
La., Michael Nelund of Vandalia, Mich., Craig Nelund of Alaska,
Judy Patty of Mishawaka, Mark Nelund of South Bend, Ind.,
Karen Milliken of Mishawaka, Debra Cooper of South
Bend and Anthony Nelund of Mishawaka. He is also survived by his
brother, Jim Nelund of Lakeville, Ind.; and by 19 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic
Church, Granger, Ind. He was an aviation machinist's mate in the
United States Navy, and was honorably discharged from the U.S.
Navy in 1952. He was the owner of LaSalle Body Shop for 42 years,
and was president of the Independent Garage Owners of Indiana. He
was a pilot and flew for Air Life Line.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
Sept. 13, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52563 Fir Road, Granger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday,
Sept. 14, in St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment will follow
at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Memorial
contributions may be made in honor of Mr. Nelund to the American
Cancer Society or to Hospice. The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th
Street, Mishawaka, is handling arrangements. He will be deeply
missed by his family and friends.
