Carmen Mary Nelund, 77, of Mishawaka,
Ind., passed away after a several-year illness on Saturday, July
20, in the Saint Joseph Medical Regional Center, South Bend, Ind.
Carmen was born May 29, 1925, in Elkhart, Ind., as the daughter
of Nicholas and Concetta Antonelli, who preceded her in
death.
She married Harold "Bud" Nelund on
April 9, 1947, in St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Elkhart. They
had 52 wonderful years until Bud's death on Sept. 11, 1999.
Carmen is survived by her four daughters, Lynn A. Goddard
of New Orleans, La., Judy A. Patty of Mishawaka, Karen A. Milliken
of Mishawaka and Debra A. Cooper of Mishawaka; four sons,
Michael N. Nelund of Vandalia, Mich., Craig D. Nelund of
Edwardsburg, Mich., Mark A. Nelund of South Bend and Anthony M.
Nelund of Mishawaka. She left 19 grandchildren whom she loved
very much and one great-grandchild. She also has three sisters
and two brothers, Josephine Signorino of Mishawaka, Sanita
Glaninni of Albuquerque, N.M., and Margarette Stoller
of Albuquerque, N.M., Leonard Antonelli and Louis Antonelli, both
of Elkhart. She was co-owner of the La Salle Body Shop in South
Bend, and was a regular mall-walker at University Park Mall. She
also belonged to the Carousel Club. Carmen was a loving mother
and grandmother, and a friend to all she met.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, in St. Pius X Catholic Church on Fir
Road, Granger, Ind. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10
a.m. Tuesday, July 23, with Rev. William Schooler, pastor,
officiating. Entombment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
Osceola, Ind. Contributions may be made to the charity of donor's
choice. The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, is
handling the arrangements.
