NEW CARLISLE - Reva (Luther) Nelson, 83, Palm Harbor, FL,
formerly of New Carlisle, was born in Milwaukee, WI, to LaRue
Runnels and Blanche (Knight) Luther on April 6th,
1924. She passed away on November 14th, 2007.
After graduating as salutatorian from New
Carlisle High School, she married Richard D. Nelson on March
11th, 1944, in Clemson, SC. During World War II she served as a
hostess for Bendix Aviation Corp. Raised in New Carlisle, Mrs.
Nelson lived in South Bend and New Carlisle until 1985 when she
and Mr. Nelson retired to Florida. Her parents, sisters, Aileen Reese
and Irma Clark, preceded Mrs. Nelson in death.
Mrs. Nelson was a caregiver to each of these
loved ones during their time of need. An accomplished musician,
Mrs. Nelson was for many years organist at the Community
Christian Church in New Carlisle. She is survived by her husband
of 63 years, Richard D. Nelson; a daughter, Renee (David) Millar
of New Carlisle; sons, Richard (Josie) Nelson and John Nelson of
Braselton, GA; grandchildren Suzanne (Kris) Dougherty of
Zionsville, IN, Gordon Millar of Mishawaka; and three
step-grandchildren, Laura Sagermann, Tracy Hilton,
and Tom Anderson of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt
Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760; or to Historic New Carlisle, P.O.
Box 107, New Carlisle, IN 46552. A memorial service in New
Carlisle will be announced at a later date.
