James H. Nelson, 91, of Erskine
Blvd., South Bend, passed away at 10:15 a.m., Friday, August 12,
2005, in Holy Cross Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born
on November 6, 1913, in Gary, IN to Henry R. and Rose (Plietner)
Nelson. On June 17, 1939, in Crown Point, IN, he married Naomi
Ruth Nelson. Along with his wife, Ruth, of 66 years, he is
survived by two sons, William J. (Marcia) Nelson of Algonquin,
IL, and John H. (Brenda) Nelson of Indianapolis, IN; five
grandchildren, John David (Colette) Nelson, Anne Marie Nelson,
Aaron Henry Nelson, Kara Dean (Jason) DeArman, and Thomas
Kilpatrick Nelson; two great- grandchildren, Jack David Nelson
and Alison Rose Nelson; and a brother, Claude H. (Margaret)
Nelson of Sun City West, AZ. As a young man, James worked in the
sheet mills in Gary, IN. In 1948, he moved to South Bend where he
began a sales career with West Chemical Products retiring as it's
District Sales Representative in 1978, after 32 years. He was a
member of Ridgedale Presbyterian Church and the National
Republican Party. He was also a big Chicago Cubs fan.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday,
August 15, 2005, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel,
3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Rev. Norbert Stubel will
officiate. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may
visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday,
August 15, 2005, in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of
