SOUTH BEND - Services for Charles S.
Nelson, 70, who died Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center
after an illness, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Alford's
Mortuary. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call
one hour before services in the funeral home.
Mr. Nelson retired from Hurwich Iron Co. He
was born March 30, 1924, in Dexter, Mo., and lived in South Bend
for 43 years, coming from Neelyville, Mo. He is survived by two
daughters, Brenda McGee and Shirley Brooks, both of South
Bend; a son, Jeffrey Brooks of England; four stepdaughters, Alice
McGee, Ernestine McGee, Doris McGee and Mary Flowers,
all of South Bend; two stepsons, Ronald McGee of South Bend and
Hois McGee of Queens, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Hill and Fern Ivory,
both of South Bend, and Fronie Young of East St. Louis,
Ill.; and a brother, Elmore W. of St. Louis. He was a veteran of
World War II.
