Donald L. Neher, 72, of Bowman Drive
in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26,
in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Don was born on May 25,
1929, in Bremen, Ind., to the late Herbert and Edith (Summy)
Neher.
On July 8, 1967, Don married the former
Nancy Wilcox, who survives. He is also survived by two
daughters, Donia (David) Hudgen and Danielle (Bruce) Ruff, both
of South Bend; two sisters, Joan Christman and Bonnie
(Gene) Bowen, both of Mishawaka; a brother, Allen (Vicki)
Neher of Bremen, Ind.; and his faithful companion of 14 years,
his dog, Suerte. Don retired in 1982 from Dodge Manufacturing in
Mishawaka after 37 years of service. He was a Korean War veteran
serving in the U.S. Marines and was a member of American Legion
Post 191 in Bremen. While at Dodge Manufacturing, Don was a Boy
Scout leader for the troop sponsored by Dodge. He was a member of
AARP and a life member of Junior Chamber International (Jaycees)
in Mishawaka. During his active years in the Jaycees, Don was
president of the local chapter and a state vice president. He was
awarded a JCI Senatorship #6384, the highest Jaycee honor. Don
also attended Ivy Tech in South B end after his graduation from
Bremen High School.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. today, Dec. 28, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home,
Mishawaka. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, in
the funeral home, with interment following at Bremen Cemetery,
Bremen, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kiwanis
Club of Mishawaka.
