SOUTH BEND Harold D. Naragon,
77, of Mayflower Road, passed away after an extended illness at 7
a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, in his residence. Mr. Naragon was born
on Nov. 19, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifetime
resident of the Michiana area. He was preceded in death by a
brother, William Naragon; a sister at birth; and by his parents,
Lee and Dorothy Naragon. On June 29, 1947, he married the former
Marian Grace Neiswender, who survives. He is also survived
by a daughter and two sons, Barbara K. (Tim) Hibiske of
Fort Wayne, Ind., and Clinton D. (Susan) Naragon and Barry L.
(Sheila) Naragon, both of South Bend; two sisters, Elaine (Ed) Hoffman
of South Bend and Ardella (Bob) Lesure of Florida; two
brothers, Chester (Lois) Naragon of South Bend and Ronald Naragon
of Bremen, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Lee, Molly Lynn,
Scott Allen, Clinton Dale, Jr., Steven Delmas and Amanda Lynn
Naragon and Matthew and Garret James Hibiske; and by a sister-
in-law, June Naragon of South Carolina. Mr. Naragon retired in
1987, as owner with his lovely wife, from Chicago Radiator which
they owned from 1960- 1987. Harold was a U.S. Navy veteran of
World War II, was honorably discharged, serving from Jan. 4,
1944, to May 17, 1946, receiving the rank of Baker Third Class.
Mr. Naragon was also a member of the Community Baptist Church and
the Green Township Lions Club. Mr. Naragon will be sadly missed
by his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was a fair and
honest man, respected by all who knew him.
Visitation hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 19, in the HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Ind. 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, in the Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend. Friends will be received one hour prior to services in the church. Rev. Dr. Bud Steadman will officiate with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to Community Baptist Christian School for Tuition Fund, 5715 Miami Road, South Bend, IN 46614. The HANLEY & Son "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Naragon family.
