Gizella E. Nagy, 88, formerly of
Kosciuszko Street and Parkovash Avenue in South Bend, Ind.,
passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Hamilton
Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, Ind. She was born on
Aug. 6, 1912, to the late George and Gizella (Barkovics) Elias
Sr. in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Nagy retired
from the former Bendix Corporation in 1965 after 19 years of
service. She was also a co-owner and co-operator of the Joe Nagy
Sinclair Service Station for 10 years.
In April 1953, as Gizella E. Elias, she
married Joseph Nagy in South Bend. He died in August 1968.
She is survived by two brothers, John
(Henrietta) Elias and Emery (Lorraine) Elias, both of South Bend;
two nieces, Helen (Harold) Pingel of Niles, Mich., and
Theresa Gatlin of Roseland, Ind.; and by three nephews,
Joseph (Betty Lou) Elias Jr. of Niles, Ronald (Julianne) Elias of
Stevensville, Mich., and Brian (Sylvia) Elias of Edwardsburg,
Mich. Mrs. Nagy was a member of Corpus Christi Parish.
Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the KANIEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on
Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Rev.
Camillo Tirabassi officiating. Interment will follow at Highland
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association, Northern Indiana Chapter, 425 N. Michigan Street,
Suite 308, South Bend, IN 46601-1236.
