SOUTH BEND - David F. Myers, 65, of South Bend, passed
away at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, in his home after a long
harsh battle with cancer. He was born on April 24, 1942, in
Mishawaka, to Frederick and Phyllis (Long) Myers, who
preceded him in death.
After 22 years together, on July 8, 2000, in
South Bend, David married Fay Lykowski. David is survived
by a brother, James R. Myers of Pattaya, Thailand; and four
children, David Shane Myers, Michael Jon Myers, Judi Lykowski of
South Bend and Julie (Jeff) Hirsch of Mishawaka. He has
two grandchildren.
David retired after 25 years at
Bendix/Honeywell. He was a graduate of Mishawaka High School and
attended Indiana University. David served in the United States
Army from 1961 to 1965 as an Artillery Specialist. He was awarded
the Good Conduct Medal. Although David resided in South
Bend/Mishawaka his entire life, he truly spent most of his time
enjoying life in Dowagiac, MI, on Magician Lake at his best
friend, Tommy Wurzbenski's lake cottage. The two met while
working at Bendix and were friends ever since. David was an avid
Notre Dame football fan, played on several bowing and softball
leagues and was a member of American Legion Post 50 in South
Bend. He attended St. Joseph Church in Mishawaka.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday,
December 14, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road.
Cremation will take place.
