Loving husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, John R. Murrmann, 93, of South Bend,
IN, passed away at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2000, in
Regency Place, South Bend, IN. Mr. Murr-mann was born on October
28, 1906, to George H. and Annie (Erickson) Murrmann. He
retired from Allied Products, and was also employed with
Federated Teachers and for 26 years with the former Studebaker
Corporation.
On April 15, 1939, at St. Joseph Parish,
South Bend, IN, he married Loretta M. Chayie, who
survives. Also surviving are his children, Beverly Jean Connout
of South Bend, IN., William John (Nancy) Murrmann of Mishawaka,
IN, Barbara Lee Jewell of South Bend, IN; a son-in-law,
Ken Stanek of Caledonia, MI; 15 grandchildren, 27
great-grandchildren; his siblings, Bertha Kitzrow of
Milwaukee, WI, Burnos B. Murrmann of South Bend, IN, Ruby Wertheimer
of Palm Desert, CA, Helen Vernon of Elberton, GA, George
Murrmann of Danville, IL; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces,
great-nephews; and three sisters-in-law, Ernestine Kaniewski Rypniewski
of South Bend, IN, Julliette Maggart of Mishawaka, IN, and
Philonese Miles of Mishawaka, IN. He was preceded in death
by a daughter, Anne Louise Stanek in July 1985; and by six
siblings, Pearl, Fred, Flossie, Daisy, Margaret and Orville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, October 7, 2000, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N.
Bendix Drive. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends
may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20
a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Mr. Murrmann enjoyed playing
the saxophone and organ. He also enjoyed history, traveling, golf
and bowling. He was a member of Turners and the American Legion
Post #50. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of
the donor's choice.
