Sister Mary Edwardine CSC, of the convent at
the University of Notre Dame, died there Saturday after a long
illness. Funeral services were held there today with burial in
the community cemetery there. She was born Margaret Murphy in St.
Joseph, Mich. in 1872. She was educated in public school there.
She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in
1902 and took her final vows in 1907. She spent most of her
religious life in missions in the midwest province and was
assigned to Notre Dame the last several years. Surviving are a
brother, Rev. Timothy Murphy CSC of Notre Dame, and three
sisters.
