OSCEOLA - Linda A. Murphy, 93, of
Osceola, Ind., passed away at 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at
Saint Jo-seph's Medical Center. Mrs. Murphy was born on Nov. 14,
1904, to the late Andrew and Matilda Pihlaja in Fullerton,
N.D. She spent her childhood with her family homesteading in
North Dakota and Canada.
On Sept. 14, 1926, she married the late
Martin J. Murphy in Divernon, Ill. Together they were the
proprietors of a country store, motel and gas station in Glenarm,
Ill. Mrs. Murphy was also preceded in death by her son, Professor
Edward J. Murphy of the Notre Dame Law School. She is survived by
her son, Ronald M. Murphy of Springfield, Ill.; and by her
daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Murphy of Osceola, with whom she made
her home. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 29
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of Queen of Peace
Parish in Mishawaka, Ind., where family and friends may call from
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. A funeral Mass will
follow at 11 a.m. Burial will take place on Saturday in Glenarm,
Ill.
