Donald L. Murphy

Donald L. Murphy, 89, of South Bend, Ind., passed away following an illness on Saturday, July 31, in Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1910, in Defiance, Ohio to Calvin and Margaret (Lantow) Murphy.

On Oct. 1, 1933 in Defiance, he married Evelyn Buchholz, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Karen Anderson of South Bend; two sons, Donald and Patrick Murphy, both of South Bend; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and by a brother, Edward Murphy of Fort Wayne, Ind. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Judith Ann Willis; two sisters; and by four brothers. Donald worked for the Bendix Corporation for 31 years in the Air Craft Division retiring in 1972. He belonged to Bendix Local #9.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4 in the Saint John the Baptist Church, 3526 St. John's Way, South Bend. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors' choice.
