Brother Celestis Mueller CSC, 56, died Tuesday afternoon in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend,  after a lengthy illness. An English teacher since 1952 he taught at Central Catholic High School in Monroe, Mich. from 1979 to 1982. He was born on Jan. 15, 1926 in Madison, Wis. and entered St. Joseph Novitiate in Rolling Prairie, Ind. in February 1944. He professed his first vows on Aug. 16, 1945, and made his perpetual profession on Aug. 16, 1948. In 1952 he received a bachelors degree from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Survivors include a brother, Rev. Mathias Mueller OP, of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of St. Joseph at the Holy Cross Brothers Center. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery on the campus of Holy Cross Junior College. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday in the chapel, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m.
