SOUTH BEND - Alvin H. Mueller, 93, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Mueller was a former owner and operator of Fruitland Grocery Store, Mishawaka. He was born Oct. 18, 1902, in LaPorte.

On July 14, 1934, in Glendora, he married Rose S. Schmaltz. She died Dec. 25, 1994. Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Butts of South Bend, Jane Darnell of Granger, and Rosalie Holloway of Buchanan; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Luella Hofer of Rolling Prairie; and a twin brother, Alfred of Knox. He was a member and past treasurer of Mishawaka Lions Club, Lions Club International and St. Peter Lutheran Church, Mishawaka.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
