Arnold Amiel Much

Arnold Amiel Much, 79, of Sylvan Lane, South
Bend, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2001, at
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Arnold was born on July 7,
1922, in South Bend, to Amiel and Olga Much, who both preceded
him in death.
On August 28, 1948, he married Bess
Petkovich in South Bend. Along with his wife of 52 years,
survivors are his two sons, Gregory (Pam) Much of Massillon, OH,
and Darryl (Lisa) Much of Richardson, TX; and three
grandchildren, Michelle, Keith and Angela, all of Massillon, OH.
Arnold served in the U.S. Army during World
War II, from 1942 to 1946. He was employed by Studebaker
Corporation for 22 years and by Allied Products for 23 years,
retiring in 1987. Arnold was a social member of the St. Joseph
Young Men's Society and a member of the American Legion Post
#357, the Disabled American Veterans and the Railsplitter
Society, Inc. (84th Infantry Division). Arnold was an avid
baseball fan, a devoted Cubs fan, and he thoroughly enjoyed
managing his sons' baseball teams at Maurice Matthys Little
League and Senior League.
Family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m.
until 8:00 p.m. today, August 8, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME,
824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A private funeral ceremony
will be held on Thursday, August 9. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that contributions in memory of Arnold Much be
made to the St. Joseph's Visiting Nurse Association or the
Hospice House of St. Joseph County.
