SOUTH BEND - Alphonse J. Mrofka, 77,
of 515 E. Monroe St., died at 2:39 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph
Hospital, Mishawaka. Mr. Mrofka was a former employee of
Studebaker Corp. and retired from the South Bend Community School
Corp. He was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Shamokin, Pa., and lived in
South Bend most of his life. He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Lavelle
of South Bend; a son, Robert of Carson, Calif.; six
grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Lou Keibler of York,
Pa., and Jean Frawley of Chula Vista, Calif. He was an
Army veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Post
303.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in Holy
Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer
Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 6 p.m.
