MISHAWAKA - Madalena “Maggie” C. Mostaert, 83. Of 1014 W. Sisth Street, died Monday afternoon in her residence following an illness. She was bornFeb. 13, 1902 in Wachtebeke, Belgium, and had lived in this area since 1908, coming from Belgium. On May 16, 1921, as Madalena C. Vervaet, she married Emil P. Monstaert in South Bend. He survives, along with a daughter, Elsie M. Boenne of Mishawaka; a son Henry J. of Mishawaka; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Emily Vaerewyck of Mishawaka and Simone Stroobandt of South Bend.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church with internment in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Hahn’s DeVos Funeral Home, where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
