South Bend Tribune 2/26/2008
SOUTH BEND - Jon was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Sherry and Simon Moses, the latter who preceded him in death. Jon graduated from John Adams High School in 1972 and on May 31, 1992, he married Amy Potysman of South Bend, who survives along with their son, Simon. Additional survivors include his mother, Sherry of South Bend; his brother, Larry (Susan) Moses of Columbus, Ohio; and sisters, Diane (Louis) Sandock and Simone Street, both of South Bend. Also, his mother-in-law, Celene Potysman of South Bend; brothers-in-law, Michael Potysman, South Bend, and Troy Potysman of Sturgis, Michigan, survive. Surviving nieces are Deena (Dovid) Abraham, Alana Moses, Danielle Moses and Ashley Street. In addition, a nephew, Jacob (Emily) Sandock, survives along with seven great-nieces and nephews.

Johnny's greatest joy was with his family and in the company of his friends. His smile would light up a room and everyone enjoyed his great personality and the warmth he exuded and extended to all. To quote one of Jon's many friends: "To know Jon was to love Jon." For many years Jon quietly donated stuffed animals to Captain Friend of the South Bend Police Department for less fortunate children in the community. Jon was always there for anyone who needed him, even as his own health began to fail, and will be remembered for the exceptional generosity which, he felt above all else, everyone around him was entitled to. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends and his warmth and his kindness will linger on, like a hovering spirit, as an example for all of us to strive toward. Donations may be made in Jon's name to the Center for the Homeless, 813 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery on the corner of Jefferson and Logan, Mishawaka (enter on Calhoun Street one block east of Logan south off Jefferson), with Rabbi Michael Friedland officiating from Sinai Synagogue. McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
