MISHAWAKA - John Mortimore Jr., 82, of Dickinson, TX, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 4, 2008, after an illness. John was born on March 20, 1926, in Rochester, IN, to John H. and Doris L. (Cessna) Mortimore. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ted Mortimore. On March 21, 1961, in Mishawaka, IN, he married the former Judith Ann DeFauw. Surviving are his loving wife, Judith; four children, John (Cherie) Mortimore III of Mishawaka, IN, Scott (Aislinn) Mortimore of Houston, TX, Pamela (Roger) Hackett of Mishawka, IN, and Angela Huffman of Granger, IN; nine grandchildren, Justin Mortimore of San Augustine, FL, Joshua Mortimore of Mishawaka, IN, Megan Mortimore of Las Vegas, NV, Marielle Mortimore of Houston, TX, Scott Mortimore Jr. of Houston, TX, Stevie Marie Mortimore of Houston, TX, Kelly Miller of Goshen, IN, John Eric Boler of Mishawaka, IN, and Katie Romeleroux of Granger, IN; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Mortimore of Baton Rouge, LA. John was a police officer for the City of Mishawaka for 20 years, retiring in 1979. He lived in Mishawaka for 60 years, Phoenix, AZ, for 18 years and Texas for the past four years. He was a member of Club 15 in Mishawaka. Cremation has taken place in Texas.
