11, 1947 - Feb. 21, 2010SOUTH BEND - Richard E. Morris, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away at 4:58 a.m. Sunday, February 21, 2010, in Hospice House, Elkhart, IN. He was 62 years old. He was born June 11, 1947, in South Bend, a son of James B. and Betty (Vandewalle) Morris, and was a 1965 graduate of Jackson High School, South Bend. On May 7, 1966, in South Bend, Richard was united in marriage to Barbara J. McKeen, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa (Mike) Floor of Niles, MI; his son, Brian Morris of Phoenix, AZ; and three grandchildren, Ryan, Makayla and Aaron Floor. Also surviving is a sister, Ruth (Mark) Beam of South Bend. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carol Morris; and a brother, Gary Morris. He was employed as a material handler in the warehousing business. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of V.F.W. Post 1954 in North Liberty. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. Military rites will follow. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. today in the funeral home.
