James B. Morris, 86, of South Bend,
passed away Friday, November 17, 2006 in Healthwin Specialized
Care Facility with his family by his side. He was born on
December 1, 1919, in Momence, Ill., to the late William N. and
Meora (Kile) Morris.
On January 26, 1946 in the First Christian
Church of South bend he married the love of his life, Betty VandeWalle.
James was a veteran and had served his country proudly in the
U.S. Army. He retired after 45 years of service from the former
General Liquor where he had been a truck driver and also worked
in the warehouse. James was a member of First Christian Church of
South Bend and was very active in the groups at church. He was
also a member of Teamster Local #364.
James is survived by his loving family, his
wife of 60 years, Betty; his daughter, Ruth Beam and her
husband, Mark of South Bend; his son, Richard Morris and his
wife, Barbara of South Bend; his daughter-in-law, Maggie Morris
of South Bend; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;
and his sister, Evelyn Sandin of North Carolina. He was preceded
in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Morris; a son, Gary
Morris; a sister, Agnes Irene Morris; and two brothers, William
Charles Morris and Robert Leroy Morris.
Friends may visit with the family on
Tuesday, November 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family
funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Funeral services
will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Owen
Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial
Gardens, Osceola. In loving memory of James, the family requests
memorial contributions be made to the Activities Department c/o
Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, 20531 Darden Road, South
Bend, IN 46628.
