MISHAWAKA - Bertha "Bert" Morin, 97, of
Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday evening, March 19, 2008, at
Caring Junction. Bert was born September 26, 1910 in Mishawaka,
the daughter of the late Amelie (Philips) and Julius DeVuysser.
Bert's father died when she was very young and her mother married
the late Edmond Temmerman who adopted Bertha.
On July 16, 1955, Bert married George J.
Morin who died in 2004. She retired from Bendix Corporation where
she was a secretary in their legal department. Bert was a
life-long member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, the Elk's Club, the
Eagle's, the BK Club Auxiliary and the Mishawaka Women's
Democratic Club. She was an avid golfer and won many championship
trophies and other awards during her golfing years. Remarkably,
she continued golfing until age 89. She also played in several
bridge clubs. Bert will be missed by her family members and her
many friends. Bert was also preceded in death by her special
nephews and niece, Patrick and James O'Brien and Mary
Margaret O'Brien-Crimaldi. Bert is survived by a niece,
Kathleen O'Brien Welsh of Mishawaka.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated
Monday, March 24, at 10 am in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 West
Seventh Street, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating.
Following Bert's wishes there will be no visitation. Private
burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery,
Mishawaka. Contributions in Bert's memory may be given to St.
Bavo School. Envelopes will be available at the church or at the
funeral home. Arrangements are by Thallemer, Goethals & Wells
Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
