OSCEOLA - Richard W. "Dick" Moran, 83, died of natural
causes at 10:50 p.m. January 16th in his home. He was born on
September 1, 1926, in Mishawaka, IN, to the late Claude and Ora
(Wooden) Moran. He was employed as a serviceman for NIPSCO for 35
years, retiring in 1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War
II, and a life member of American Legion Post 308 in Osceola,
where he was a past commander. Dick's favorite hobby was fishing.
He had a great passion for gardening, woodworking, and making
birdhouses for the back yard. On May 17, 1952, in Osceola, he
married Donna B. Oakley, who survives. He is also survived by
sons, Danny G. Moran of Osceola and Terry L. Moran of Watervliet,
MI. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death, George
"Pete" Moran, Mary Frances Moran and Winifred Campbell.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 21, in the
Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, with Pastor Jeff Marshall.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, in
the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to
hgifh@aol.com. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
with military graveside rites. Memorials may be made to the American
Heart Association or to the donor's choice.
