Rev. James Moran CSC, 81, of Holy
Cross House, died at 3:32 a.m. today in St. Joseph Medical
Center, after an illness. He was born Aug. 31, 1904 in Detroit.
He made his first profession of vows in the Congregation of Holy
Cross on July 21, 1923. After doing philosophy and theological
studies in Rome, he was ordained to the priesthood April 4, 1931.
During his years of ministry he served at the University of
Portland; Holy Cross Seminary; and Holy Cross Novitiate, before
being assigned to Our Lady oh Holy Cross Parish in North Easton.
Mass. In 1952 he came to the University of Notre Dame to teach
and later became the Director of Admissions, serving in that
capacity from 1959 to 1963. In recent years he has been in
residence at Holy Cross House.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Holy Cross Community Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Friday at Moreau Seminary where a wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
