MISHAWAKA - Vicky Sue (Fernandez) Moore, 57, of Mishawaka,
passed away at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Saint Joseph
Regional Medical Center, South Bend, after a courageous battle
with cancer. Vicky was born on April 15, 1950, in Lebanon, IN, to
the late Joseph and Helen (Threlkeld) Fernandez.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Freddie G.
Threlkeld.
On June 15, 1968, in Biloxi, MS, she married
Michael Moore. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael
"Mick" Moore of Mishawaka; one daughter, Dawn M.
(Roger) Hommon of South Bend; one son, Anthony M. Moore of
South Bend; a granddaughter, Geneva E. Denney-Moore. She
is also survived by her sister, Marsha (Jim) Marcum of
Brazil, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vicky graduated from Catlin High School,
class of 1968. She worked for the University of Notre Dame as an
associate clerk. She retired in 2005 after 24 years of service,
and for the last 11 years she ran the Irish Café at the Notre
Dame Law School. After retirement she volunteered weekly for the
American Cancer Society and as a teacher's aide at Liberty
Elementary School, Mishawaka. Vicky loved the students and
faculty at the law school and the family will be forever thankful
for their generosity when they sent Vicky and her family to
Disneyworld when her cancer reoccurred.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 17, in First Christian Church, 2511 East 3rd
Street, Mishawaka, IN, with a time for gathering two hours before
the services. Dr. M. Gregory Timmons will officiate. Chapel Hill
Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, is handling
arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family request that
memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 W.
Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the First Christian
Church.
