NORTH LIBERTY - William F. Moon, 73,
of 24300 Indiana 4, North Liberty, Ind., passed away after
becoming ill in his residence at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, in
Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.
He was born on June 16, 1924, in North Liberty and resided in the
area his lifetime.
Bill retired from Wells Aluminum in North
Liberty in 1983, after many years of service.
On Aug. 31, 1948, in South Bend, he married Selma J. Peterson,
who survives.
He is also survived by a daughter, Holly C. Moon of Lakeville,
Ind.; a son, Murray S. Moon of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by two
wonderful loving grandchildren.
Mr. Moon was preceded in death by a son, Patrick D. Moon, who
died on Feb. 16, 1992; a brother, Burl Moon; and by two sisters,
Marjorie Malstaff and Leona Atherton.
He attended North Liberty High School and was a World War II Navy
veteran, serving in the Pacific. He was awarded the Victory
Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific area
Campaign Medal, (8 stars), and the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon.
Bill was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1954,
North Liberty, and the American Legion Post 189, Walkerton, Ind.
There will be no visitation hours or service. Cremation has taken
place.
Mr. Moon requested no visitation or services be conducted to
lessen the pain for the family and many friends, who he cared
deeply for.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the
St. Joseph County Heart Association or to the New Military Honor
Park which represents all veterans.

handled services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Moon
family.
