Gustavo Montalvo, 20, of Berkshire Road, Bakersfield, Calif., passed away on Friday, March 28, in San Diego, Calif. He was born on Jan. 23, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas, to Armando Montalvo of Bakersfield, Calif., and Pauline (Benavides) Alvarez of South Bend, Ind. He lived in California for six years, coming from South Bend.

Gustavo is survived by his parents; his paternal grandmother, Angelita Montalvo of Bakersfield; five sisters, Pat Nanez of Carrizo Springs, Texas, Esther Wilkeson, Monica Gillam, Ida Abrajon and Maria Miramontes, all of South Bend; and by two brothers, Robert Alvarez and Chris Alvarez, both of South Bend. A brother, Armando Alvarez, has preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 7, in the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
