SOUTH BEND - Vivian Ruth Montague,
89, residing in South Bend, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday,
November 1, 2008 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South
Bend. She was born September 23, 1919 in Kansas City, MO, the
daughter of Ray & Gladys (Tippett) Montgomery,
and has lived in South Bend most of her life except for living in
Bourbon, IN as a young girl. On June 25, 1939 in Warsaw, IN she
was united in marriage to Ward Eugene Montague who preceded her
in death on July 3, 1979. She was also preceded by her son Dennis
Ray Montague in November 2006, a daughter-in-law, Patricia
Montague, and five brothers, Lewis, Charlie, Paul, Jackie &
Bobby Montgomery. Mrs. Montague is survived by her four children,
Sandra Buie of South Bend, Judith Buie and her husband
Archie of Shreveport, LA; Terry Montague and his wife Sue of
Elkhart, IN; and Ronnie Montague and his wife Sharon of
Shepherdsville, KY. Also surviving is her sister, Jean (Lloyd) Skinner
of Warsaw, nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Montague retired as Head Housekeeper with Holiday Inn in
South Bend. She was a graduate of Bourbon High School, loved to
make homemade quilts and travel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Nov. 4,
at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South
Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. Graveside services and
burial will follow at Sandridge Cemetery, Bourbon. The family
received friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral
home.
