Larry D. Monroe, 48, of Pine Road, North Liberty, Ind., died at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, in Hospice House. Mr. Monroe was born on Sept. 24, 1948, in Bryan, Ohio, and lived in this area most of his life. He retired from Ameritech after 28 years of service, and was currently employed by Utility Locators for the past three years.

On July 31, 1971, in South Bend, Ind., he married Janet H. Koehnke, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Julie Monroe of South Bend; a son, Mark Monroe of North Liberty; his mother, Naomi Monroe of North Liberty; a grandson, Martin Gerencser of South Bend; and by a sister, Shirley Wingett of North Liberty.

Mr. Monroe was an Army veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 363 in Lakeville, Ind., and of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
