SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Margery (Ruth Clare Mitternight), CSC,
86, was born in Mobile, AL, to the late Christopher and Rosalie
Green Mitternight. Sister is survived by her sister, Rosalie Rossomando
of Arizona; brother-in-law, Donald Roby of Virginia;
nieces, Regina Olszewski of Pennsylvania and Mary Anne Coleman
of Arizona; nephews, George Rossomando and Alleyn Rossomando of
Arizona; and cousins, Frank Mitternight Jr. of Alabama and Patty Fugua
of Florida; and many friends. Sister Margery received her early
education in Alabama, St. Cecilia's and Dunbarton College of Holy
Cross in Washington, DC. After entering the Congregation of the
Sisters of the Holy Cross, Sister Margery taught for 40 years in
elementary schools in Texas, Ohio and the Eastern States. Sister
was diocesan secretary in Virginia, studied gerontology in Ft.
Wayne, IN, and managed gerontology cases at Cardinal Nursing Home
and Saint Mary's. She was assigned as hall director of LeMans
Hall at Saint Mary's College. Sister Margery was assigned to Holy
Cross High School, Riverside, NJ, as a teacher and then to the
Academy of Holy Cross, Kensington, MD. Family responsibilities
occupied her time in 1988, and in 1990 she was a tutor at Holy
Cross School, Garrett Park, MD. Sister worked in health care,
Raphael's House, and taught part-time at Holy Cross Hospital,
Silver Spring, MD. She retired to Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN,
in 2000, and was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her
death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the
Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame,
IN 46556.
Reception of the body will be at 9 a.m.
Friday in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre
Dame, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Church
of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN. Kaniewski
Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
