Florence C. Mitchell

April 24, 19095 – January 31, 1993

Florence C. Mitchell, 87, of Meadowview Avenue, died at 9am Sunday in her home after an illness.  Mrs. Mitchell and her husband owned and operated the Ardmore Tavern for 20 years.

She was born April 24, 1905, in South Bend and was a lifelong local resident.  On October 23, 1924, in South Bend, as Florence Kanciak, she married Frederick L. Mitchell.  He died January 17, 1979. 

Surviving are two daughter, Shirley Williams of South Bend and Marilyn Newton of Harlingen TX; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and a sister, Loretta Kazyak of Pittsburgh.  A son, Charles, died in 1950.

Services will be at 1pm Wednesday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
