LAKEVILLE - Elmer Roy "Mitch" Mitchell, 77, of
Lakeville, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008
in Hospice House, South Bend. He was born September 17, 1931, in
Chatfield, MN, to Almond P. and Edna May (Young) Mitchell.
On May 2, 1954, in Bremen, IN, he married the former Esther
Eleanor Nettrour, who survives. Mr. Mitchell is also
survived by two daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Sherman of
Lakeville and Cathy (Karl) Suher of Lakeville; son, James
Mitchell of Bremen; six grandchildren, Amanda Mitchell, Nathan
(Shannon) Mitchell, Rebecca Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Justin
Sherman and Bradley Sherman; and sister, Ethel Sackett of
Chatfield, MN. Three sisters and five brothers preceded him in
death. Mr. Mitchell lived in Lakeville, for the last 55 years. He
retired in 1993 as a sheet metal worker for Local #164, and then
worked at Allied Signal for twenty-two years. Mr. Mitchell was a
50 member of the American Legion #363 in Lakeville, the American
Legion #365 in North Liberty, a 54 year member of the Lakeville
Conservation Club and a lifetime member of the VFW #1954.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2008 in St. Paul Lutheran Church-Woodland, 15697 New Road, Mishawaka, IN. Rev. Karl Brenner will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. today, November 14, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan St., Lakeville and one hour prior to the services in church on Saturday.
