Rev. William F. Minnick CSC, pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church from 1934 to 1937 died at 11:16 p.m. Thursday in Holy Cross House on the University of Notre Dame campus. He had been chaplain to the Sisters of Holy Cross at Immaculate Conception Convent at St. Mary’s College from 1937 to 1962, when he retired. Father Minnick was born on June 3, 1883, in New York City and was orphaned at the age of 4. He completed his secondary education at Notre Dame and entered Holy Cross Seminary there in 1905. He received the habit of the order in 1910 and was professed two years later.

 

Study at Holy Cross College and Catholic University of America where he received a bachelor of sacred theology degree in Washington led to his ordination on June 25, 1915. Father Minnick served St. Patrick’s as an assistant pastor and pastor for 15 years. He was also pastor of Sacred Heart Church in New Orleans and St. Bernard’s Church in Watertown, Wis.

 

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday in the Corby Hall Chapel at Notre Dame. The office of the dead will be sung at 5 p.m. Sunday in Sacred Heart Church. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday in the church, with burial in the Community Cemetery.
