Ira G. Mills, 89, of Ridgedale Road,
formerly of Darden Road, South Bend, Ind., died following an
illness at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, in the Ironwood Health
and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Mills was born on Nov. 22, 1911,
in Macy, Ind., to the late Ira N. and Renee (Poppy) Mills.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley and Ellis
Mills. He had lived in the South Bend area since 1941, and
retired from Dick & Company Quality Meats as a salesman. He
was a member of Toastmasters International and Dale Carnegie, and
attended Christ the King Catholic Church.
On May 29, 1934, in Richmond, Ind., he
married Mary Jane Arnett, who survives. He is also
survived by two sons, Jerry N. (Carol) Mills of South Bend and
Charles A. (Lou Ann) Mills of DeWitt, Mich.; four grandchildren,
Gregory (Laurie) Mills, Brian (Sandra) Mills, Kevin (Lori Ann)
Mills and Paul (Erika) Mills; and by nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday,
Jan. 17, in the WELSHEIMER FUNERAL HOME, 521 N. William Street,
South Bend. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may
call from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 16, in the funeral home.
