SOUTH BEND - Vivian M. "Bubby" Miller, 87,
passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 9, 2007, in St. Paul's
Health Care Center, South Bend, IN. Vivian was born on August 9,
1920, in Milan, Missouri, to David J. and Grace Mae (Clubine)
Baker. Moving to South Bend at an early age, she graduated
from Riley High School in 1938 and remained an area resident.
On October 5, 1940, she married George
Miller, who preceded her in death on December 15, 1986. They
enjoyed many wonderful years together as they watched their
godson and many nieces and nephews grow up. Vivian retired from
Indiana Bell on January 12, 1979, after 36 years of service.
Remaining active with the Oldies But Goodies group and a member
of Telephone Pioneers, she was known as "Bubby" and
kept great friendships all of her life. She also enjoyed Bible
study, attending services at Calvary Temple, and volunteering
with the Beta Chi Service Sorority. With a wonderfully upbeat
personality and a deep appreciation of friends and family, Bubby
was always happy to share a kind word, uplifting prayer, or a
sincere "I love you" with those around her. An
animal lover all of her life, she adopted the pets of her friends
and family.
The youngest of the Baker children,
preceding her in death were all of her brothers and sisters:
Helen Dell, Rose Louella Vogel, Almeda Williams,
Frances and Harold Baker, as well as her niece, Cepha Miller.
Survivors include her godson, Bill (Linda) Howell, nieces,
Cindy (Neil) Frushour, Vicki DuBuc and Carrol VanStory,
and a large number of other nieces and nephews.
Services for Bubby will be on Saturday, Dec.
15, at 11:00 a.m. in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel,
3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN, where friends may call from
5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Calvary Temple, 3717 S. Michigan
St., South Bend, IN 46614; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
