Sondria L. Miller

Sondria L. Miller, 66, of Riverside Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Sunday, April 14, in her residence.
Mrs. Miller was born on Sept. 4, 1935, in South Bend, to the late Guy Homer and Melba (Elsbree) Rodman, and was a lifelong area resident. In 1953 she graduated from John Adams High School, South Bend. On July 24, 1954, as Sondria L. Rodman, she married Carl Gerhold, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth LaCluyze'; and by a brother, Ronald Rodman.
Mrs. Miller worked as a distributor for Safeguard Business Systems for 10 years, then as an administrative assistant for Key Bank for nine-and-a-half years, before her retirement from Key Bank in the year 2000.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a son, Eric (Tomi) Gerhold of South Bend; a granddaughter, Emma Gerhold of South Bend; a sister-in-law, Ruth Rodman of Stockton, Calif.; three nieces, Rhonda Thurston of Stockton, Susan Abel of Detroit, Mich., and Lynn LaCluyze' of South Bend; two nephews, Paul (Mary) LaCluyze' of South Bend and Keith LaCluyze' of Mishawaka, Ind.; three great-nieces, Jackie Abel of South Bend, Jennifer Ek of South Bend and Michelle (Darren) Bodle of Mishawaka; and by four great-nephews, Jason Abel of Detroit, Matthew (Kelly) LaCluyze' of Connecticut, Aaron (Jennifer) LaCluyze' of Lansing, Mich., and Brian LaCluyze' of Mishawaka.
Mrs. Miller was an avid Notre Dame football fan, a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, South Bend, as well as a member of the church Altar and Rosary Society. She was the past president of the South Bend Writers Club, and was a member of the John Adams 2003 reunion group. Sondria's strength and passion for life was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 17, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a 7 p.m. parish Rosary will be recited.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, in Corpus Christi Church, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
