SOUTH BEND - Sister Virginis Miller, O.O.,
95, passed away in Racine, WI on Wednesday, December 10, 2008.
Hedwig (Hattie) Miller was born March 23, 1913, to Frank Michael
and Margaret (Ruetz) Miller in Kenosha, WI.
After the death of her parents, she was
cared for by her aunt and uncle, Margaret Neona and Joseph
Ruetz, South Bend. She graduated from the former St. Joseph's
Academy in 1931. On February 2, 1935, she joined the Racine
Dominicans, and at her reception in 1935 she was given the
religious name Sister Virginis. She professed her fist vows in
1937 and her final vows in 1943. Sister Virginis spent 72 years
in service to others as a teacher, a registrar and a bookkeeper.
She was predeceased by her parents; caregives Margaret and Joseph
Ruetz; her brothers, Msgr. Louis J. Hubert, Anthony, Clement Miller
and Thomas, Raymond and Joseph Ruetz; her sister, Mary Ruetz and
sister-in-law, Mary Louise Cressy Miller. Sister Virginis is
survived by her brothers, Rev. Edward and Robert Ruetz; sisters,
Genevieve Ruetz Collins and Marjorie (Donald) Narducci;
sisters-in-law, Irene Ivins Miller and Carolyn Ruetz; nieces,
Beverly Miller Bradley, Mary Beth Miller Dominello,
Joyce Miller Fuchs, Virginia Miller Gionfriddo,
Victoria Miller Trimberger, Alice Miller Cassell,
Suzanne Miller Muzzareilli, Kathleen Miller Will; nephews,
Michael, Brian, Hubert, Wayne, Gregory, Dennis and Anthony
Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place at the Siena Center chapel, Racine, WI on Monday, December 15, 2008.
