Ned A. Miller, 84, of Waite
Boulevard, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at
3 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Healthwin Specialized Care
Facility in South Bend. He was born on Aug. 21, 1915, in Harlan,
Ind., to the late Frank and Frances (Cummins) Miller, and
was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
On Aug. 23, 1952, Ned married the former
Mary Catherine Ganser, who also preceded him in death on Feb. 6,
1992. Ned is survived by a daughter, Loretta Madden of
South Bend; a son, Charles Miller of Niles, Mich.; four
grandchildren, DeAnna Rincon, Melissa and Angela Madden,
and Frank Miller; and by a great-granddaughter, Keeli Rincon.
Ned retired in 1980 from the Kawneer Company
(formerly in Niles) as a commercial artist. He was a former
member of the St. Joe Valley Water Color Society (winning several
awards over the years for his art work) and the Log Cabin Society
of Michigan. Ned was a World War II Army veteran, participating
in the Battle of the Bulge with the 424th Infantry. He was the
recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Ned was an avid viewer of
public television, so his family has asked that any memorial
contributions be made to WNIT Television, Channel 34, 2300
Charger Boulevard, Elkhart, IN 46514.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. today, Nov. 19, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
Nov. 20, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Mishawaka.
