SOUTH BEND - Melvin Ira Miller, 87, of 5305 S. Monticello
Court, formerly of Goshen, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday in his home.
He had been ill since February 1984. On June 13, 1921, in Goshen,
he was born to the late Ira S. and Fannie Mae (Bender)
Miller. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Miller.
He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration where he worked
in weather for pilots. He was a member of Kern Road Mennonite
Church, South Bend, EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association), AOPA
(Airplane Owner & Pilot Association), and the NARP (National
Association for Railroad Passengers). On Oct. 21, 1955, in
Goshen, he married Pauline Kenagy, who survives. He is
also survived by a daughter, Barbara (Ron) Cote of
Palatine, IL; a son, David (Dawn) Miller of Hesperia, CA; a
sister, Lillian Gingerich of Goshen; a brother, Marion
(Debbie) Miller of Union; and grandchildren, Noah, Jacob and Beck
Miller of Hesperia, CA, and Nathaniel Cote of Palatine.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday,
Aug. 22nd, in Kern Road Mennonite Church, 18211 Kern Road, South
Bend, with Revs. David and Jancie Sutter, both of Kern Road
Mennonite Church, officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6
to 8 p.m. Thursday in the church. Graveside services will be at 9
a.m. Friday at Clinton Community Cemetery prior to the memorial
services. Memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care. The arrangements are in the care of the
Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen.
