SOUTH BEND - Martin Hoyt Miller, 80, passed away on
Thursday in Memorial Hospital. Martin was born on April 27, 1927,
in Petersburg, IN, to the late Guy Gus and Adele (Barrett)
Miller. He was also preceded by in death two children, Brenda Mayo
and Tom Miller, and many brothers and sisters.
On August 28, 1954, he married Marjorie Phelps
in LaPorte, who survives along with their four children, Barb
(Keith) Robinson of Silver Springs, MD, Glenn Swain
and Kevin (Beata) Miller, both of South Bend, and Randy (Rebecca)
Miller of Mishawaka; and seven grandchildren, Kyle, Nicholas,
Joshua, Kendall and Devyn Miller, Keir Robinson and Sarah
(Joseph) Martinez; two great-grandchildren, Joseph and
Reagan Martinez; and sisters, Ruth Pennell of Evansville
and Jo Smith of Churchill, TN. Martin was a welder for
DoMore, Elkhart, and retired after 27 years. He was a lifetime
member of Eagles #435, and a member of Deaf Bass Masters and
Senior Citizens for the Deaf. He repaired TDY machines and
enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching sports. He was a Cubs,
Bears and Notre Dame fan.
Visitation will be today, Oct. 21, from 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.
Mayflower Road. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Monday, Oct. 22, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St.
Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
