Grace D. Miller

Grace D. Miller, 88, of Rosewood Terrace, Elkhart, Ind., formerly of Woodward Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away of an illness at 11 p.m. on Thurs-day, Sept. 14, in Rosewood Terrace.
Grace was born on Oct. 7, 1911, in South Bend, as the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Horty) Dekan. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Scott Dekan, Charles Dekan and William Dekan.
Grace is survived by two sisters, Ethel Smudey of Niles, Mich., and Helen Van Hoedt of Mishawaka, Ind., and by several nieces and nephews.
She was a lifetime area resident. Grace was a cafeteria supervisor for Madison School, South Bend, and retired in 1977. After Grace's retirement she worked part-time for several area merchants. She was a member of the Apostolic Temple, and was a Red Cross volunteer. Grace was a member of the American Legion Post #303 Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a member of the former South Bend Turner's. She was also a non- licensed home-care nurse.
Private family visitation will be in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. today, Sept. 16, at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
