NEW CARLISLE - Ansel W. Millar, 81,
of Rosewood Road, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday in his home of natural
causes. Mr. Millar was a retired farmer. He was born April 9,
1913, in Ludington, Mich., and lived in New Carlisle most of his
life.
On June 19, 1936, in Lydick, he married
Esther Ella Whitesel. She died July 24, 1993. She is
survived by three sons, William of North Liberty, and David and
Douglas, both of New Carlisle; six grandchildren; four
stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Hope Scrogin of Corvalis,
Ore., and Miriam Scrogin of Corona, Calif.; and a brother,
Northup of South Bend. He was a board member of Mount Pleasant
Cemetery and served on the St. Joseph County Agricultural
Stabilization & Conservation Service Committee, St. Joseph
County Extension Board, St. Joseph County 4-H Advisory Board,
Warren Township 4-H Advisory Board and Farmers Home
Administration Board.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in
Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend. Burial
will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. Joseph County 4-H Scholarship
Fund, 5117 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN 46614 or any library.
